Hey team :)
i think some do not know what's going on with me these days.
come to think of it,
i'm also wondering why i'm still training.

okay,
it's a long story,
but i think you all have the right to know.

Things in my family haven't exactly gone smoothly this year.
i've been fighting with my mama ALOT.
and yeah, some might know she beat me too.
but let's not dwell into that.

The thing is that,
my grades weren't up to standard this year.
didn't get all As,
and there was this deal my mama made with me,
she said i would drop badminton if i did not get all As.

So i didn't get all As.
and the deal still stands.
and i have to abide by it right?

some will think my mama is kidding,
but she really isn't.
i haven't been appearing for trainings lately.
i know that.
but sometimes i always wondered the more times i go,
the harder it is for me to let go off this team.
i never wanted to let go,
i love you all too much.
i love badminton too much.
so now what am i to do?

all i know now is to hope for a miracle.
what's done is done.
i can't rewind time.
but i just want all of you to know that,
i love you,
and thank you for making me a much stronger person.
i love this team now and forever more.

That's all i'm going to say.
it's a new beginning for all of us.
next year, my teammates,
i'll be cheering for you in my heart,
cos i know you all will always be champions,
whether we win that golden trophy or not.

Take care,
marissayeoleping.

To the lovely juniors ..... and also the wonderful seniors...

Starting into the month of November and training will be going into full swing for the next 2-3 months. My expectations of each and everyone of you will be going up too, as I want all of you to improve as much as you can during this period - seniors and juniors. Another important goal is to send a team of good players for tournaments. Training will get tougher and you could be hearing my voice many more times, at different volume levels too :)

Just want all of you to keep in mind... NO ONE can force you to do your trainings - you can choose to train smart, slack off the 3 hours or not even turn up. Your decision will only impact you the most - the team will still train. There's always something to learn in every minute of training - you just need to open your eyes and observe, open your heart and enjoy. May you be sitting down to rest or in the court training.

Carry the right attitude and you will learn alot more, alot faster too. Fear of hard work can only keep you where you are. Training will be still be tiring but will also be enjoyable, challenging & rewarding. Best part of all, you have a team behind you every step of this journey.

That's what a team is all about - Each of you has your own strength and weakness...No one falls behind, unless you choose to.

Want to be clear on this as well: I can be very demanding & screaming like a crazy person during training - but always remember it is directed at what you do at training only. If you have issues or questions to ask, PLEASE ASK and clarify on the spot. If not, tell me " Miss Tan, I need to talk to you." It's better than assuming, getting all sensitive, become angry with me and thinking I have something against you.

During trainings, I believe in training hard and making full use of every minute of the time given ( that's why I can be patient if you take more time to learn things, but I can't accept laziness) - it is also why my players need to keep in priority what is important and work smarter. In this way, you will always be looking at doing things better, than dwelling on what you are not good at. Respect the training, your teammates/ seniors/ sparring partners and the game and you will be treated the same way too.

Lastly, your seniors and sparring partners (my former students) are here to help you as they have much experience training with me, playing tournaments and know what I expect at training. They are also your role models and you need to give them every bit of respect. Treat your training seriously so that they will be motivated to help you improve your game time after again.

Hope you all are looking forward to your next training. It's already difficult for me to keep my sanity, trying to make a group of teenage girls understand why I love badminton. Thankfully, I still wake up each day, getting superly excited about each training. You gals need to keep my motivation going by doing what you need to do :)

That's all I gotta say,
MISS TAN
